A glimpse inside my world

“Praise the LORD! Oh give thanks to the LORD, for He is good.”         Psalm 106:1
I hope you all are enjoying what may be the last of winter. The birds are chirping outside my window, and last night, while my husband and I were talking outside with our neighbor, he shared pictures of some of the first robins in the area!  Woo-hoo!
I love Spring because nature is coming back to life, and it reminds me of how good God is. Nature goes through her cycles. In the Spring, it seems everything is dirty, muddy, and we’re waiting for the sun to come out and for warm rain to breathe life into the land, plants and trees, even those plants you have to start from scratch, like seedlings.  I am in awe of how He created things just so, and how everything from the land, plants and trees rises up to turn into something beautiful.
We are a lot like Spring.  Dirty, muddy with all of our sins, wandering around sometimes aimlessly, wanting new life, anxiously awaiting for the warmer “sun” and wanting to release the “rain” each season brings.  I have good news! What I am about to tell you is the reason I live.  God gave His One and only Son to breathe life into us and He gives us eternal life, if we choose to accept it.  We can go from the dirty, muddy sinners that we were and become new, beautiful creations! It doesn’t mean we still are not sinners, but the old things have passed.
“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come.”                                                     1 Corinthians 5:17
In this post, I will be sharing the process of my painting with God’s Word, forming an idea and turning it into something beautiful!
First, I just have to say that I absolutely love what the Lord is doing through this ministry He has entrusted to me.  He has blessed so many people, including myself!! I love the fact that wherever these paintings end up, He is still using them to minister to and bless the people who come upon them.  I love to be a part of seeing Him work in other people’s lives. I have been richly blessed.
The painting that I have decided to share is one of my favorites. It is very near and dear to my heart.  It is a painting that I did during the time my Grams passed away last summer.  Grams, my dad’s mom, passed away July 24, 2015.   She was such a lovely lady, greatly admired by all who came into contact with her.  I always loved her laugh, her smile and most of all the talks that we would share.  Her with her memories, wrapped with wisdom, with me gleaning all I could from her.  On my dad’s side, I think that it is safe to say that she was the one who brought the family together, our “rock”. She showed us all how to love, be strong and to be there for others.  She was very dear to not only me, but to all of us. It was such a great loss. She sure was a treasure. I miss talking and spending time with her, but I am so thankful that I will be seeing her again one day. That means the world to me.
The Lord laid this particular one on my heart for my dad two days after her passing, actually on my 40th birthday.  It had another special meaning to it also, though I didn’t put two and two together until the middle of the process.  When my sister died, Psalm 23 was chosen to be on her obituary.  Here we are some 40 years later and I am painting it for my dad, during another hard season in his life.   I am not sure who picked it, whether it was Grams, my parents, or all three…but, needless to say I think that it is pretty cool that the Lord chose THIS Psalm to minister to myself and my family through this loss.

The beginning stages start right here in my sketch book.

1 of 3 of my trusty sketchbooks! This one is my very first one.

An idea will pop into my head, I will start praying and thinking about it, pull out my sketch book and start drawing.

Beginning of the process, bear with me as I am playing around with watermarks.

From there I will pick the canvas size, paint the background and then start sketching on the canvas.  It is here my work evolves because, although I have an idea of what I would like on the canvas, through prayer and just getting a “feel” for it, sometimes it will change into something slightly different.

I then will outline the sketch to prepare the painting process.  This is a photo of that.

Every year for Grams birthday, one of my uncles would always get her roses.

I love the Bryer’s ice cream in the top right corner and the tissue. Who doesn’t love ice cream — so comforting!  The tissue may have been to wipe the brushes or even my tears through this process, or both.  The Lord is so good, I cannot say that enough, even through one of the hardest times in my life. He brought painting into my life two months prior knowing that it would help me then, as it was during my grandmother’s passing.  I was able to meet Him in such a special way and allow the healing of this loss begin.   He knows my needs, your needs, before we even think of them!

Grams always liked her birds.
The next step is to outline and start painting, taking something that came from scratch, like the seedlings, and bring beauty to it. Painting is not only something I enjoy, but it is an act of worship for me.  I sit and talk with God through a lot of the process.  It is my “sweet” place, where He will meet me, minister to my spirit along with praying for the person who will be receiving the beautiful piece of artwork.
Here is what the final piece looks like!  I hope that you have enjoyed this little glimpse into my life.painting5
Since my last posting, God has brought people to me who have asked me to create their own beautiful creation for them.  It is such an honor!
If you are interested in one of your own or if you are wanting to bless someone else, please get ahold of me.  We can talk about what you have in mind. I have some already painted or I can do custom work.  We can discuss the pricing as well after I get an idea of what your need is.
Thank you for all of your wonderful comments and support!

A New Journey

I’m Jennifer. Entering the cyber world can be a bit daunting, but here  I am!  This site is an opportunity for me to share my paintings with you as the Lord lays them on my heart.  I hope that this will be an avenue to present His Word and His Love with you through my art. I pray it will bring you encouragement and hope — hope that, no matter what we face, we still have a good Father, One who loves us and will see us through all that we face, good and bad.
There are two verses I would like to share with you from the beginning.
John 3:16 & 17
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.  For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him.”
And Romans 8:28 says this:
“And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
Enjoy looking through the art gallery. I will continue to add more. The paintings come in many different sizes. All are hand-painted originals, straight from the heart.  I have been blessed to see how the Lord is using this to minister to and bless others.  The artwork began with and continues to be the Lord laying different people on my heart.   Since its inception, I have had wonderful opportunities to take things a step further and start selling some of my art.  I have a handful in a beautiful, quaint store in Nappanee, Indiana and I’m currently working on a few more.  I love that this is getting His Word out in front of people because in Isaiah 55:11, it says:
“So will My Word be which goes forth from My mouth; It will not return to Me empty, Without accomplishing what I desire, And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it.”
God is faithful and so is His Word!
If you are interested in a piece of art for yourself or to bless another, I would be honored to do one for you. You can email me at inspiredbyjennifer@yahoo.com and I would love to chat with you about making that special piece made especially for you!
